This Friday the 38th edition of the Guadalquivir KH7 Night Race will be held, one of the most crowded sporting events on the Sevillian calendar. The test will start at 10:00 p.m. and will have its departure and arrival on the Paseo de las Delicias, near the Glorieta de Buenos Aires. The finish line will remain open until 00:00, so that the 26,000 registered runners will have two hours to complete the route. In total, participants will face approximately 8.5 kilometers of route, with a wide route designed to facilitate the passage of runners. In addition to the characteristics of the test, another aspect that should be taken into account will be the time. First of all, the temperatures expected for 10:00 p.m. will be pleasant, even above the usual temperatures for this time of year, so the weather conditions will be good for those participating in this Friday's race. Now, although the Night Race is held late at night, the runners will have to face a still warm environment. And this Friday Seville will experience the hottest day of the week, with a yellow warning activated for high temperatures between 1:00 p.m. and 6:59 p.m., a period in which thermometers can reach 38 degrees. This episode of heat will leave an especially overheated environment during the hours before the test. The situation will be more bearable as the night progresses, although the temperature drop will be progressive. In this sense, according to the forecasts of the State Meteorological Agency, at 10:00 p.m., coinciding with the start of the race, it will still be close to 30 degrees in Seville. Two hours later, when the finish line is scheduled to close, the temperature will be around 27 degrees. Therefore, the test will take place in a stable environment, but within a tropical night and with high running temperatures. With temperatures around 30 degrees at 10:00 p.m. and around 26 degrees at the end of the race, runners will have to take the heat into account when choosing their equipment. In this case, it is best to opt for light, breathable and comfortable clothing, avoiding clothing that may retain too much heat. Thus, a short-sleeved technical t-shirt and shorts will be enough to face the race in these conditions. It is also advisable to use breathable sports socks and previously used shoes, avoiding wearing new shoes on the same day of the test. Furthermore, given the forecasts, it would not be necessary to add warm clothing, since the temperature will remain high even after midnight. And, although the temperature will drop as the night progresses, the atmosphere will remain warm until the end, so excessively warm equipment could increase the feeling of heat during the effort.
