EH Bildu is seeking the release of the last 39 ETA prisoners under its wing who are still serving prison sentences in closed regime, according to ABC España.
The party does not press the demand directly. Its representatives are working to widen majorities in order to unseat the PNV in Vitoria and the Partido Socialista de Navarra in Pamplona, while the demand is voiced through its satellites.
The most prominent of those is Sare, the collective supporting ETA prisoners that operates in the orbit of Arnaldo Otegi's party. According to ABC, Sare raised the demand last week when it called its annual demonstration for January 9 in support of freeing imprisoned ETA members.
