A season of The Ultimate Fighter with Ilia Topuria and Paddy Pimblett running the two teams is looking more likely, ABC España reports, after UFC president Dana White endorsed the proposal.
The idea came from Pimblett, known as "The Baddy", when he was asked about the prospect of facing Topuria, nicknamed "El Matador", inside the cage. Instead of dismissing the bout, the British fighter asked the promotion to consider a TUF season in which he and the Spanish-Georgian served as the head coaches.
"I love it," White said of the plan, with the UFC president making clear that everything would hinge on how the matchups fit into the near future.
The lightweight division's picture is still unsettled. Justin Gaethje, the current champion, wants time to choose his next step in the biggest mixed martial arts league, weighing not only a first defence of his belt but also the option of retirement.
