Fighting between Houthi rebels and government forces backed by Saudi Arabia is intensifying in Yemen, with the city of Taëz emerging as a central prize in the confrontation, according to RFI.

The Houthi militia, described as pro-Iranian, accuses Riyadh of striking the country more than 90 times, including the capital Sanaa, on Friday 2 October.

Violent clashes in the Taëz region also left dozens dead, RFI reports. The region lies between Aden and the positions held by the Houthis.
