The Chicago White Sox completed a sweep of their AL Wild Card Series against the Houston Astros, winning 7-3 on Wednesday behind a big first inning and a three-run homer from Chase Meidroth, according to The Guardian US.
It marks Chicago's first playoff series victory since the franchise beat Houston in the 2005 World Series.
The White Sox are managed by Will Venable, now in his second year in the role, and the club carried a letter of support from Pope Leo XIV.
Chicago move on to the AL Division Series, where they will meet AL Central champion Cleveland, with the series opening Saturday in Cleveland.
