American military and intelligence agencies spent months warning Saudi Arabia about a renewed danger posed by the Houthis, The New York Times reported, as cited by Interfax. The warnings delivered to Riyadh came with a call for Saudi officials to bring together the fragmented forces of Yemen's internationally recognized government.
Two American sources described the warnings to the newspaper, according to the account. The Houthis, known as Ansar Allah, control part of Yemen's territory.
