United Nations climate chief Simon Stiell plans to warn that extreme heat poses a mounting risk to pregnant mothers and their babies, according to Arab News. The warning is expected to come on Monday at the "pre-COP" summit in Nadi, Fiji.
Stiell will point to new survey findings showing that more than two thirds of health professionals working across five continents had encountered complications brought on by intense heat within the past five years.
"Rising temperatures mean rising danger in pregnancy," he is expected to say.
