U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an Arctic security pact with the leaders of Denmark and Greenland, according to CBC's "About That." The signing came after months in which Trump threatened tariffs and raised the prospect of military action in pursuit of acquiring Greenland.
The agreement updates the long-standing 1951 defence agreement among the parties but does not amount to an outright U.S. takeover of the territory. CBC reports that experts are questioning whether the diplomatic fallout from the pressure campaign was worth the result.
