These days it has been nine months since the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility put out to tender for 45.1 million euros, VAT included, the works contract for the section of the SE-40 between Dos Hermanas and the El Copero interchange. It falls within the framework of the project for the layout of said highway intended to connect the Nazarene city with Palomares and Coria del Río, saving the Guadalquivir bed with a controversial new bridge to replace the tunnels initially designed to cross the river underground. It was at the end of December last year when the Ministry of Transport put out to tender this new section of the SE-40 between Dos Hermanas and the future El Copero link, which will have a length of 1.2 kilometers and is adjacent to the section already in service between Alcalá de Guadaíra (A-376) and Dos Hermanas (A-4). On the other hand, it will connect with the future section of the second phase of the SE-40 layout project between Dos Hermanas and Palomares and Coria del Río, proposed between the El Copero interchange and the connection with the A-8058 or highway from Seville to Coria del Río, on the other side of the Guadalquivir and including the aforementioned large-span bridge. The tender, which exceeds the maximum amount of 45 million euros, has garnered significant interest from construction companies, with a report from last April showing the large number of them that had submitted offers. The works have a completion period of 52 months, that is, four years and four months, so in the best case scenario, they could finish in 2031. In line with this strategic project of Seville, marked by delays government after government. The contracting of the section of the SE-40 between Valencina de la Concepción and Salteras required less time for completion. The project was put out to tender by the Ministry of Transport for more than 130 million euros in June 2024 and was awarded in March 2025 for 116 million, in just under eight months of processing. The section between Espartinas and Valencina needed approximately the same. It was put out to tender in April 2025 for 101 million and was contracted in November of that year for 84 and a half million euros.
