Pedagogue Tamara Chubarovsky says that getting children to read more and better requires slowing down their pace rather than speeding it up, ABC España reports. She sets out the argument in her latest book, 'Jugar, leer, crecer' (Play, Read, Grow), which she wrote from her base in La Vera.
The book speaks to a common frustration: parents who read and keep books on their shelves, yet whose children do not open a book. Chubarovsky said writing it was "a huge challenge" for her, and that her aim was to connect with a more alternative understanding of learning.
"In fact, my intention was to explain that, in order to get them to read more and better, we need to calm the times instead of accelerating them."
