Spain's Popular Party will use its absolute majority in the Senate to have the Cortes Generales closely follow the government's handling of the so-called 'ley de nietos', or grandchildren's law, according to ABC. The measure is included as an additional provision in Spain's Democratic Memory Law, and the controversy surrounding it is growing.
The PP wants the government to take responsibility for the law's consequences, particularly for its possible impact on the current electoral census in the next electoral cycle, which the party sees as decisive for Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez's political future, ABC reported.
With a legal battle already under way, the PP is opening a new front in Parliament, the outlet said.
