Santiago Luna is talking up his rivalry with Aleksandre Topuria before the pair meet at UFC Qatar on 21 November, according to ABC España. The Mexican, who goes by "Borderboy" in the cage, holds an 8-1 record with a 2-1 mark in the UFC, while the Spanish-Georgian Topuria is 7-1 and 2-0 in the promotion.
Speaking to journalist Carlos Contreras Legaspi, the 22-year-old Luna rated himself the superior fighter of the two and took aim at El Conquistador, the nickname given to Ilia Topuria's older brother.
"His striking is lacking. His volume is not the best." — Luna, on the weaknesses he sees in Topuria's game.
Luna has also made clear he does not intend to lay out a red carpet for Aleksandre's return to the octagon after a year on the sidelines, stressing his own experience in the world's leading mixed martial arts promotion. The Mexican has three UFC bouts to his name, one more than Topuria.
"His power is not the one of his brother," Luna said of Aleksandre Topuria.
