A law student in Riyadh in her twenties showed no symptoms when physicians discovered she carried a genetic mutation that was weakening her heart muscle, according to Arab News.

The finding followed her sister's diagnosis with cardiomyopathy. Testing then identified a mutation associated with the disease, which led to Durrah's own diagnosis.

She received a heart transplant at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh. A year on, she has gone back to law school and to painting, and the heart often becomes a subject of her artwork.
