Junts is emphasizing its conservative platform to shield itself from criticism over vetoing a decree, according to El País. The party is also seeking to satisfy its electoral base and allies while counting down the hours to activate the return of Carles Puigdemont.
Miriam Nogueras made a quick trip from Madrid to Barcelona on Wednesday. She was invited to the annual gala hosted by Pimec, the Catalan employers' association for small and medium-sized businesses, at the Palau Sant Jordi. The dinner took place hours after Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said he felt "reasonably optimistic" about validating in Congress this Friday the two housing decrees drawn up by his Council of Ministers.
At a time of visible social tension, with street protests, soaring square-meter prices, and the harshness of evictions dominating news coverage, Nogueras raised doubts when asked whether Junts would vote in favor of the new regulatory framework.
"We have no fear of getting burned to continue defending the interests of Catalan families," Nogueras said.
