The International Committee of the Red Cross has described everyday life for Palestinians in the West Bank as "untenable", pointing to violence by Israeli settlers, after a large mob attacked a Palestinian family in the village of Jalud.
According to The Guardian, more than 100 militant settlers early on Tuesday overwhelmed Israeli security forces to reach the family, which was trying to take back homes that settlers had seized. Houses were set alight, and three Israeli security officials were injured.
The assault prompted one of Benjamin Netanyahu's main rivals to warn of a campaign of settler terror, the newspaper reported.
The ICRC's assessment was issued in the aftermath of the Jalud attack, The Guardian said, with the agency characterising the situation facing Palestinians there as no longer sustainable in daily terms.
