Alberto Núñez Feijóo used Thursday's National Directorship meeting in Génova to deliver his first major internal message to his party with the general elections in view, ABC España reported.
A large group of regional presidents turned out for the gathering in Génova and afterwards ate lunch with the party leader, who went over the same ground with them privately.
According to ABC, Feijóo told party officials that the moment the PP had long been waiting for had arrived, that the party cannot afford a single mistake and, above all, that it must avoid "falling into the traps" set by the government.
The PP leader stressed that his people must be prepared, the outlet reported, conscious that Moncloa will take advantage of any opportunity that comes its way.
