Coffee cultivation in Saudi Arabia's Asir region is broadening from an agricultural tradition handed down over generations into an expanding economic activity, Arab News reports. Thousands of farms and hundreds of thousands of trees are distributed across the area's mountain terraces, valleys and slopes.
The coffee-growing belt runs from Al-Farshah and Tihama Qahtan in the south, through a chain of mountain governorates, centers and villages, up to Balqarn in the north. According to the outlet, that span mirrors the region's varied terrain and its long association with coffee.
