África Mateos Bou has left secondary school behind at 16 to join the chemistry degree at the Universitat Jaume I de Castellón, according to ABC. She had already moved ahead one year in primary and another in secondary because of her high abilities.
"I have arrived when it was my turn," she told ABC, describing the university stage as a new beginning.
Her path has been marked by learning ahead of her age, ABC reports, and also by the need to adapt to an education system that, in her mother's account to the paper, has not always known how to respond to students like her.
