The world’s largest penguin colony has lost nearly two-thirds of its members, according to a study reported by Anadolu Agency. The colony is made up of chinstrap penguins living on Zavodovski Island near Antarctica.
Researchers found that the population fell by more than 680,000 between 2011 and 2025. The decline occurred amid climate change, according to the study.
