Residents of Entrevías and San Diego, in Madrid's Vallecas district, are denouncing robberies, drug consumption and dealing, prostitution, filth and brawls concentrated around the Asamblea station, according to El Mundo.

The newspaper reports that the problems are concentrated along a one-kilometre stretch, and that neighbours describe the area with a blunt comparison.

"Esto es el Bronx de Madrid" ("This is the Bronx of Madrid"), neighbours say of the area, El Mundo reports.

More than a dozen settlements also sit within the zone, the paper adds, and residents are demanding solutions for homeless people.
