According to ABC España, 42% of university students in Spain skip classes, based on a study by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) published this year. The UAB analyzed the causes of absenteeism as enrollments rise each year.

"We don't go even half the days," said Irene and Natalia, second-year Finance students at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, according to ABC España. Natalia said classes are generally "very monotonous" and that "the teachers don't make an effort."
