Spain's Audiencia Nacional has sentenced José Ramón Prado Bugallo, known as Sito Miñanco, to 17 additional years in prison in the case known as Operation Mito, according to ABC. He is described by the newspaper as one of the historic bosses of Galician drug trafficking who never stepped away from the trade.
ABC reports that at the time of the investigation he was already serving a sentence of 16 years and 10 months for drug trafficking and was on the third-grade prison regime, while registered as an employee of a car park in Algeciras. From that position, the paper says, he continued to direct an organisation that smuggled tons of cocaine into Europe.
ABC writes that traffickers are the offenders most likely to reoffend, and calls Miñanco the "paradigm" — a trafficker who returned to the business after his releases.
