The Sociedad General de Autores y Editores (SGAE), the Asociación de Compositores de Música Sacra Procesional (Musapro) and the Confederación Española de Sociedades Musicales (CESM) met in Seville to discuss "diferentes cuestiones relacionadas con el reconocimiento de los derechos de autor en la música sacra procesional", according to a statement from the parties cited by ABC.
The encounter was held on Wednesday 7 October. As a result, the organizations agreed to "colaborar con las cofradías" — the brotherhoods — in order to identify processional marches and to collect the royalties generated by them, ABC reports.
Councils and associations of brotherhoods, for their part, are still waiting to be shown the details of the tariff that is expected to be brought in over the coming months.
According to ABC, the meeting represents a further move toward applying copyright collection to the music played during processions.
