The brotherhood of San Roque is celebrating 125 years of history in 2026. According to ABC España, it commemorated the anniversary on the night of Friday 9 October with a solemn thanksgiving mass presided over by the Archbishop of Seville, José Ángel Saiz Meneses.

The milestone is not confined to San Roque. ABC reports that the Puerta Osario corporation shares the same anniversary with the march 'La Grave', composed by Francisco Soler Ridaura.

The composition carries a pronounced funeral character and features in the programmes of several brotherhoods commonly known as those 'de negro'.

This year, taking advantage of the anniversary, the piece found its way into San Roque's own repertoire: according to ABC, 'La Grave' sounded once more in San Roque on Palm Sunday.
