Russia's Health Ministry has explained a sharp reduction in the budget of the federal project to combat oncological diseases, Kommersant reports. The Russian government submitted a draft federal budget for 2027 and the 2028–2029 planning period to the State Duma, and the document shows financing for the anti-cancer programme declining by 141 billion rubles.
According to Kommersant, 144.9 billion rubles were set aside for the programme in 2026, while the draft provides only 3.9 billion rubles for it in 2027.
The budget figures indicate that the bulk of the programme's planned spending would end after 2026.
