Rafa Nadal will play in front of a crowd again this Saturday, October 3, at the Rafa Nadal Academy Slam, a tennis exhibition staged in Manacor, Mallorca, to mark the tenth anniversary of his academy, ABC reports.
Eight former tennis players will take part, divided between two teams captained by Nadal and Andy Murray. The format is a team competition, and the doubles matches will be settled through super tiebreaks.
For Nadal, the day represents a return to an event of this kind for the first time since his retirement at the Davis Cup Finals in November 2024.
He and Murray will share a court once more, more than ten years after their last official encounter, a semifinal at the Madrid Masters 1000 in 2016.
Team Rafa is made up of Nadal, Richard Gasquet, David Ferrer and Carlos Moyà. The two Spanish additions reconnect him with figures from his career: Ferrer captained the Spanish side at his professional farewell in Málaga, and Moyà had formed part of his technical staff since late 2016.
