Quebecers have voted a separatist party into provincial office for the first time in more than a decade, CBC's About That reports. The result came even though the majority of voters in the province do not support separating from Canada.
According to the CBC analysis presented by Andrew Chang, the Parti Québécois and its leader, Paul St-Pierre Plamondon, rose as the governing Coalition Avenir Québec fell. Chang's explanation focuses on why sovereignty ended up being treated as a separate question by voters rather than a central one.
