The Philippines is preparing to approach some of the world's largest technology companies — Apple, Nvidia, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. and Qualcomm among them — about placing advanced manufacturing operations at the planned Pax Silica hub in New Clark City, according to Gulf News. The site sits about 100km north of Manila.
The 1,619-hectare development in Tarlac is being presented as the anchor of a broader Philippine technology corridor that could connect chip design in Metro Manila, critical minerals in Mindanao, AI data centres in Batangas and digital infrastructure along the Pacific coast.
An existing semiconductor export base
Chip manufacturing is not new to the country. The Philippines earns roughly $50 billion a year from exporting semiconductor components and devices, mainly electronic integrated circuits and microchips. That category represents about 73% of the local electronics manufacturing sector and feeds global supply chains for computers, smartphones and AI infrastructure, according to an industry report.
