The Valencian painter and illustrator Manuel Boix has died, according to ABC España. His death came thirteen days after that of Artur Heras, his fellow artist and collaborator, the newspaper reported.

With Boix gone, only Rafael Armengol remains of the trio the three men formed in 1962, a group ABC describes as a brilliant product of the sixties.

Boix was born in La Alcudia, where his father worked as a carpenter and where an international engraving biennial has carried his name since 2024. Like his two companions, he trained at San Carlos.

He belonged to the pioneering collective "Boix, Heras y Armengol", which came ahead of Valencian pop art and of the Crónica and Realidad groups. Their 1964 exhibition at the Martínez Medina hall drew strong attention from Vicente Aguilera Cerni and Tomás Llorens, ABC España recounts.
