In Madagascar, an official commemoration was held on September 25, one year after the Gen Z uprising which led to the fall of Andry Rajoelina. A stele was unveiled on the banks of Lake Anosy in Antananarivo, the focal point of the 2025 demonstrations. A way, according to the authorities, to pay tribute to the 22 people who died during this mobilization (according to a UN census). Present were the four “high advisors of the Refoundation”, the Prime Minister, as well as members of Gen Z and relatives of victims of the repression. A ceremony which took on very political overtones.
