An account published by ABC España revisits an attack of 50 years ago, on 4 October 1976 in San Sebastián, when the writer, finishing lunch with his parents a few minutes after two in the afternoon, heard bursts of machine-gun fire and understood it to be a new ETA attack, this time close to the family home.
His mother went to the lookout from which the avenue at the end of calle de Oquendo could be seen, then turned back toward the family to say one word: "Araluce."
The account names the members of Araluce's security team who were killed with him:
According to the account, Araluce was shot at the moment he got out of his car to enter the doorway of his house.
