Guinea's president, Mamadi Doumbouya, has granted a pardon to the opposition figure Aliou Bah, RFI reported. The pardon was announced as part of a larger measure under which several dozen convicted prisoners received a full remission of their sentences for the country's national holiday, marked on Friday, October 2.

Bah had been arrested at the end of 2024 and was convicted in May 2025, receiving a two-year prison term for "offense and defamation" directed at the head of state.
