A militia aligned with Ethiopia's federal government says it has taken Mekele airport, a claim it made public on the social media platform X, according to RFI.
The announcement came as the Tigray Peace Forces (TPF) had already regained control of a number of localities in southern Tigray over the preceding days, RFI reported.
Mekele airport had been captured on September 23 by the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF), at the outset of an offensive launched by a new opposition alliance hostile to the federal government.
