The Supreme Court has authorized the execution of Christa Pike, Le Monde reports, clearing the path for what would be the first putting to death of a woman in the United States since 2023.
The authorization came after a federal appeals court had halted the lethal injection earlier on Wednesday, according to the French daily. The higher court's decision allowed the procedure to move forward.
Pike was condemned in Tennessee for a murder carried out more than three decades ago, Le Monde reports.
