At least two people have been killed in flood-related incidents across Thailand and one more is feared dead, according to RT, after days of torrential rain led officials to declare the entire capital, Bangkok, a disaster area on Saturday.
The two confirmed deaths were reported in Chanthaburi province in eastern Thailand. Thailand's Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation said a Buddhist monk was killed in a landslide, while another person died after a fishing boat capsized.
A further fatality in Bangkok was reported by the Thai newspaper Matichon.
Heavy rain battered the capital overnight Friday and continued into Saturday, flooding major roads and neighborhoods, with parts of Bangkok left under waist-high water. Videos circulated from the city showed cars submerged up to their roofs and people wading through waterlogged streets. Officials warned of more heavy monsoon rain.
