A Palestinian photojournalist working for Agence France-Presse was beaten by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank, the French daily Le Monde reports. The photographer, Jaafar Ashtiyeh, is 58 years old.
According to the international news agency, Ashtiyeh sustained injuries to his head and to his torso, and was carried to a hospital by ambulance.
AFP's director of information, Phil Chetwynd, condemned the assault, calling it "a serious attack" and "unacceptable".
