Abu Dhabi Police, working with the Monitoring and Control Centre, have called on e-scooter riders to follow designated routes and traffic regulations, warning that improper use can lead to serious accidents and injuries, according to Gulf News.
The force's Traffic and Security Patrols Directorate said e-scooters should be used only on approved paths and in permitted areas. Riders were told to avoid main roads, weaving between vehicles and travelling through crowded areas.
Riders were also advised to wear helmets along with knee pads and elbow protection. The force said the safety requirements are intended to protect riders, pedestrians and other road users.
In a post on X, Abu Dhabi Police also appealed to parents to protect their children from the risks of incorrect scooter use.
