Valery Ponomarev has been elected as the Kamchatka Krai legislative assembly's member of the Federation Council, the regional parliament told Interfax.
Lawmakers gave Ponomarev their unanimous backing at the first session of the regional parliament's fifth convocation, which took place on Thursday, the legislature said.
"At the first session of the regional parliament of the fifth convocation, held on Thursday, Ponomarev was unanimously elected as the representative of the legislative assembly of Kamchatka Krai in the Federation Council," the assembly said, according to Interfax.
