Spain's Court of Auditors has passed information to the magistrate leading a secret investigation into the alleged illegal financing of the PSOE, highlighting irregularities in the accounting of foundations linked to the party, according to ABC. The inquiry appears to have reached a key point.

Investigative sources cited by ABC say donations made through the party's foundations were the route allegedly used to channel the commissions described by businessman Víctor de Aldama in secret testimony given to the investigating magistrate before the summer.

The information, delivered to magistrate Ismael Moreno a week ago, concerns the foundations' accounts rather than the amounts registered directly by the party. According to ABC, those foundations could have been used to conceal funds of previously unknown origin.
