'Los Javis' have returned to Lorca with 'La bola negra,' a work that takes as its starting point four pages of a piece Federico García Lorca left unfinished, according to the Spanish newspaper ABC España. The work also draws on 'La piedra oscura' by playwright Alberto Conejero.
In the paper's column, the writer describes the operation as having something of profanation: the duo do not place Lorca behind glass or handle him like a paleontologist, but instead take his materials and make something new. That, the columnist argues, is precisely what Lorca himself did with the materials he found.
The columnist recalls meeting Conejero, who told him he admired Ibsen's 'Brand' even more than the writer did.
