The HSN Sailing Team, with Javier Padrón at the helm, has been crowned champion of the J70 Spanish Open, held over the weekend in the Ría de Vigo and organised by the Real Club Náutico de Vigo.

The Gran Canaria outfit controlled the regatta to the point that it did not need to sail the last race to guarantee victory.

The event brought together a strong J70 fleet and allowed the nine planned races to be completed, with the worst result discarded. HSN reached the final day in a commanding position and settled the championship with a third and a first in the opening two races on Sunday, closing on 14 points.

Noticia, with Luís Martín Cabiedes, took second place on 23 points. The boat of the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona was highly consistent, recording four second places and a third.

Third went to MarNatura, skippered by the Portuguese sailor Manel María Cunha, who finished on 26 points. His crew built through the championship and ended among the frontrunners thanks to four second places and one race win.
