The Al-Thani family has set in motion every avenue available to get Rakan Abdullah Al-Thani out of prison, tasking the prominent lawyer Javier Velasco Almendral with his defence, according to ABC España.
The power-of-attorney document naming the lawyer, which the outlet says it has seen, has already been added to the proceedings under way at the court.
Rakan is under investigation together with his father and two of his brothers over suspected irregularities in the administrative running of Málaga C.F.
The sheikh's son was detained in Germany on 12 September 2026, arrested during a check at Munich airport while he was bound for Doha, ABC reported.
